Home ICU

A home ICU is a hospital intensive-care setup installed in a room of your house: a multipara monitor, oxygen, suction, infusion pumps, and where the treating doctor prescribes one, a ventilator. An ICU-trained nurse stays with the patient around the clock.
Families choose it for two reasons. The first is cost — a private ICU bed in Jodhpur runs several times what the same cover costs at home. The second is that a long-stay ICU patient who is stable but not yet independent recovers better in a familiar room, with family present, than behind visiting hours.
It is not right for everyone, and we will say so. A patient who may need emergency intubation, dialysis or surgery at short notice belongs in a hospital, near the people and equipment that handle those. We set up a home ICU only after the treating doctor agrees the patient is a candidate.
